Two years after Florida passed Amendment 2, Floridians were finally able to use the products they voted for. Trulieve proudly served the first flower products to Florida patients after the change in legislation.
Shortly after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation that would repeal a ban on smokable medical marijuana, the first smokable product in the state was officially sold by Trulieve Tallahassee.
Under the law, physicians who are certified by the Office of Medical Marijuana Use to recommend medical cannabis can authorize their patients to receive up to 2.5 ounces of flower or bud every 35 days.
The law also laid out guidelines for packaging and labeling of content, which apparently made it easier for the Department of Health to approve Trulieve's pre-submitted application to sell flower in its natural form (Schweers)
"Kim Rivers, CEO of Trulieve, said the importance of having smokable flower available to patients comes down to two things — choice and access. In flower form, cannabis has a number of properties that aren’t as effective when they’re turned into oil, she said. As a full flower, cannabinoids work together to create what scientists call the “entourage effect,” Rivers said at a press conference live-streamed on Trulieve’s Facebook page." (Finaldi)
Trulieve now has sold over 100 unique marijuana strain profiles and has plans for even more to come! Trulieve advocates for safe and affordable access to medical products and pushes for legislation that benefits all Florida patients.
